CALUMET INDUSTRIAL CORE WALKING TOUR:
Self guided tour of Calumet & Hecla Mining Company properties. Wayside signs give information on surface operations, community life, schools, and other topics related to the mining of copper.

CALUMET THEATRE :
340 Sixth St. 337-2610. A historic opera house built in 1900 presents a variety of theatre, music, opera and dance throughout the year. Forty-five minute guided tours are offered June through mid-October. Self-guided tours are offered year round.

COPPERTOWN USA MINING MUSEUM:
25815 Red Jacket Road. 337-4354. An introduction to the fascinating story of the Copper Country & American's first mining boom. Open late May thru early October from 10 am to 5 pm. Monday thru Saturday. (Sun. 12:30 to 4 pm in July & Aug.) .

KEWEENAW HERITAGE CENTER AT ST. ANNE'S CHURCH
:
Corner of Scott & 5th Streets. Featuring Minor Houses/Miner Houses, an exhibit that shows the layout, plans & actual size of a company-built house. Scale models of other examples of company housing complement this life-sized building constructed on the main floor of the Heritage Center. Observe the ongoing process of restoring old St. Anne's church and transforming it into the Heritage Center. Open every day from 1 pm until 4:30 pm. July 1 to August 31. Donations appreciated.

NORWEGIAN LUTHERAN CHURCH:
Corner of Elm & 7th Streets. Currently under restoration, the church was constructed in 1898 to serve an immigrant population that had come to work in the region's copper mines. Open daily 9 am - 6 pm, June to early October. President of the NLC Historical Society is Joseph Mihal 337-3731. or visit their website at www.nlc-calumet.org.

ST. PAUL THE APOSTLE CHURCH TOURS:
301 Eighth Street. Built in 1902, this impressive twin-spire structure features beautiful windows, paintings and altar work. Open Mon. - Fri. from noon to 3 pm, June 28 to early October.

UPPER PENINSULA FIRE FIGHTER'S MEMORIAL MUSEUM:
327 Sixth Street. Housed in the historic Red Jacket Fire Station, this museum features memorabilia and exhibits spanning almost a century of firefighting history. Open late June through late September. Mon. - Sat. noon to 4 pm.

Self guided tour of the area's historic commercial buildings with accompanying map.
